Question: I have an old electric golf car, can I upgrade to a more modern, solid state electrical system?

Question:
Can I put bigger tires and wheels on my golf car?
Answer: Most standard golf cars can accept a slightly larger tire with no repercussions. You can typically go from the standard 8" to a 10" tire with no changes but when you start looking at 20+ inch tires for off roading you will need to install a lift kit.

Question:
Can you make my golf car go faster?
Answer:
Yes, in most cases, we can speed up your golf car.

The simplest way to get a slight gain in speed, for either gas or electric golf cars is to install a taller tire set. With this method, you will typically see a 2-3 mph gain in speed. To gain even higher speeds and/or more torque, gets a little more involved.
Most electric golf cars can be upgraded more easily than gas cars. Some electric golf cars can be re-programmed, others will go faster with the installation of a high speed drive motor, drive gears or a different controller. The highest speeds are reached with a combination of all three components, but typically, a new motor and controller will satisfy your needs.
Gas powered golf cars are a different animal, they can be sped up, but it is not so simple in most cases. In order to increase the speed of a gas golf car, you need to increase the horsepower, which can become very involved.
Speeding up your golf car, either gas or electric, can definitely add excitement to your drive, but it can also lighten your wallet!

Question: How can I make my golf car street legal?
Answer:
This is currently a tricky subject, most areas of Kentucky do not allow golf cars on city streets, but that is changing rapidly. Right now everything depends on the city or county government where you reside. However, we are providing street legal upgrades on a regular basis, this consists of, installation of head, tail, running and brake lights and fully operational turn signals, with a "slow moving vehicle" sign on the back. Please call for any question you may have and check back regularly as we will be changing this information as the changes in laws occur. 859-885-4143

Question: I just had new batteries installed in my golf car, when I put it on charge, I smell a strong acrid odor, what is that? Is that normal?
Answer: Yes, unfortunately, this is normal. New batteries will emit a strong odor when charging the first few times and should be charged in a well ventilated area if at all possible. After you have put the new batteries through a few charge cycles this odor will dissipate.
